AREA SURVEY MANAGER required by our Client, an construction company, to be hired on a full-time basis, located in Norfolk, VA.

PRINCIPAL REQUIREMENTS
- Performs calculations and designs for alignments, drainage, structures and roadway modeling
- Creates, manages and maintains the survey control network, project layout and construction data
- Manages survey equipment resources, including routine verifications and annual calibrations
- Processes the raw data captured by the field crews using Microstation Openroads/GEOPAK, Trimble Business Center and Civil 3D software. Keeps all survey files on the Project Common Data Environment in a neat and organized manner, as directed by the Project Survey Manager
- Establishes and maintain standardized machine control/survey 3D models and construction survey data for project level operations
- Coordinates and schedules work of the department with Construction Managers and Superintendents on a daily/weekly basis
- Works with engineering and construction operations to establish survey needs
- Find potential issues ahead of time and be able to problem solve
- Ensures the work performed within the department is in compliance with the QA standards
- Helps create and implement internal and external department-level Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Manages the professional development and growth opportunities for the members of the team
- Has the ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people who need to cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Minimum ten years’ surveying experience
- Minimum one year experience managing survey teams in heavy infrastructure projects
- Special requirement for Tunnel Survey Manager: Minimum Five years of demonstrable experience in TBM projects.
- Special requirement for Marine Bridges Survey Manager: Minimum Five years of demonstrable experience in marine bridge projects.
- Special requirement for Island Expansion Survey Manager: Minimum Five years of demonstrable experience in heavy civil marine projects that involve underwater works (island expansion/rehabilitation, dredging, diking, rock placement, etc.).
- Special requirement for Roadway Survey Manager: Minimum Five years of demonstrable experience in heavy civil highway projects.
- While performing essential job functions, the employee is required to frequently inspect and supervise job operations and may be exposed to ongoing construction. Ability to access all areas of a jobsite is required for the position.
Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Sound knowledge of geometry, probability, statistical inference, survey control networks, least squares adjustment and common survey procedures that lead toward high accuracies.
- Demonstrable experience with Microstation Openroads/GEOPAK, Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center
- Demonstrable experience with 3D Machine control
- Ability to communicate with a vast range of support entities including Engineers, Superintendents, and Architects
- Possess strong problem solving abilities to address and solve survey challenges associated with construction operations
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and translate into survey data for layout in the field
- Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
- Organized, accurate and thorough
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
